  • Inglot e/s DS 494, M373
  • Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Soft pink and brown!

Holo!

This is my soft pink and brown smokey look. I am really sorry but the pics just do not do any justice to the look which came out pretty well. I really like the colours and the softness of the look. It can be worn as a day look and I think it makes my eyes look really big also. :D

I used:

  • MAC Painterly
  • Inglot e/s P397, DS 465
  • MAC e/s Twinks, Black Tied
  • Faces eye pencil in Brown
  • Maybelline Great Lash mascara
Yes I know my lashes look funny but I'm just not able to get them to look nice. Oh well!

Here are pics!

This is with different lighting...I tried really hard to capture the colours.

So what's the verdict? Hope you liked :D

Thanks & see you next time.

Smokey Blue!

Hi y'all!

This is my smokey blue look that I did using the NYX palette from the Caribbean collection called "I dream of Antigua." It has a range of blue from icy-pale blue to dark glittery blue. There are 5 colours in this palette and I used all of them.

The colours are really gorgeous and pigmented but they don't translate onto the lid as well as they swatch. I used the colours with NYX jumbo pencil in Slate. I like the colours but I have had this palette for a year and I'm just not that impressed with it. Oh well!

I used:

  • NYX jumbo pencil in Slate, Black Bean
  • NYX palette "I dream of Antigua"
  • Cover girl lashblast mascara and maybelline great lash mascara.
Here are some pics!!

See my lashes!! Finally standing up!

So there it is!! Hope you like.

Thanks and catch you all soon!

Weekend haul -MAC 15 pan palette

Hey everyone!

I just wanted to talk about the MAC 15-pan palette. I have wanted to buy this for a long time and finally got it as a belated (very) birthday gift. This is gonna be a quick review of it.

  • The palette is designed to hold 15-MAC e/s pans.
  • It's really easy to put in and remove the eye-shadows.
  • But you can put more in if you pop out the plastic insert.
  • It costs Rs. 840
  • It's not the most sturdy palette. I feel like the plastic is thinner and a wee bit flimsy. The Inglot palettes are definitely tougher.
  • Here's the lame thing about it, the palette is magnetic but the eye-shadows pans are NOT! So you need to stick a little magnet on the back of your de-potted eye-shadows! If you buy the individual pan forms of the e/s then they come with a magnet stuck to the back. This is where the Inglot palette is way better, those eye-shadows just cling on to the palette!!

Here are some pics of it!

The palette!

Open palette!

Without the insert!

See the black magnet on the pan!

My palette with my colours!

Hope this helps you decide whether the MAC palette is for you. Personally for me, it's nice to have it but it's not really a must have for me. :)

Thanks!

Egyptian inspired - another one!

I did an Egyptian inspired look a little while ago and this time I did another one for the Makeupgeek challenge. My look is not so refined but oh what the hay! This is how we learn :)

I used:

  • Inglot Cream Concealer in "22"
  • NYX jumbo pencil in Black bean and milk
  • Inglot e/s in M 373, P430
  • Maybelline Great lash mascara
  • MAC blacktrack fluidline
  • NYX candy glitter liner - Gold

Here are some pics!

So this was my entry! I like my look though I do want to try it again and refine it! I took a long time to think of what I wanted to do - I feel that it is simple  and yet so dramatic. So I hope you like it too...

Thanks!

The Inglot Bandwagon? Wait, I'm jumping on too...... PART 2

As promised, here is part2 of the Inglot post. This time I'm going to let the pictures do most of the talking!!

Here we go:

This palette was gifted to me by my best friend! I love, love, love my new colours and am very excited about my palette..

6 pan palette!

I popped out the plastic insert!

My palette filled with my eye-shadows!

I love these colours!

I don't like this numbering system!

Just one swipe on fingers!

The swatches!

More swatches!

One last pic of the swatches!

Now that the pics have done all the talking, I want to add a few words about the colours:

  • DS 494: Beautiful purple with gold micro-shimmer.
  • DS 465: I find this colour very hard to describe. It's brown with a purple base/tinge & micro-shimmer.
  • 407 P: Stunning peachy-orange-y-gold,similar to MAC's expensive pink.
  • 430 P: The most unique, true gold colour I have seen! LOVE it!
  • 397 P: Pretty, metallic pink colour. It's a bit deceptive as it alternates between appearing between pale pink and skin toned!

These are my brief descriptions of my colours. I have used the DS 494 and DS 465 and I found them easy to use and blend. I thought the DS 494 (purple) would be difficult to use because it swatched patchily but it was totally fine.

I will post looks and detailed reviews for the rest as soon as I get a chance to use them.

Oh! Almost forgot, I compared 407 P to MAC's Expensive Pink. I want to saw that the colour is similar, it's not a 100% dupe. The Inglot is more gold and has a stronger orange/peach undertone. Expensive pink is more "laid back" and not as vibrant, if that makes sense!

Here is a pic of the both of them:

MAC expensive pink Vs Inglot 407 P

And that wraps up part two of my Inglot post. Hope you enjoyed it and do let me know your thoughts and ideas!

Thanks & tata!

The Inglot Bandwagon? Wait, I'm jumping on too...... PART 1

The blogging world is abuzz with Inglot and their good quality eye-shadows! Luckily we have Inglot in India. I first went to an Inglot store in Delhi last August and was quite happy with their selection of products. I bought my first three pan palette there. Though the sales associates were helpful, they were a bit haughty. But I think that's just a Delhi thing so never mind all that.

Inglot has recently opened a store in Chennai and this is a small one, about half the size of the one in New Delhi. I went with zero expectations in terms of service from the SA and was happy to get good service. Having said that, I must mention that most shopkeepers/SA etc are pretty humble and helpful in Chennai.

There were 3 SAs/MUA in the store. One of them walked over to me, greeted me and offered to help me. I proceeded to give her a long list of e/s that I wanted to check out and she patiently took my piece of paper, and helped locate whatever she had. She took fresh pieces and then matched them with the testers and gave me both. I ended up swatching about 20-30 different colours and spending a fair bit of time sorting out what I wanted. She was patient with me the whole time and very helpful.

I ended up picking up 3 colours. There were 3 more that I had wanted - which were out of stock. Oh, I forgot to mention, she first told me that I could not buy the pan-form if I was not buying a palette. I thought that was super weird!! She said the company has instructed them not to sell the pan form without a palette. To this I told her that I already had a palette that I wanted to fill. My friend had bought me a 6 pan palette and filled it with 2 e/s. The rest I had to fill myself. So I told her that and she very nicely agreed to sell me the pans alone. But isn't that weird?? Have you experienced that at your local Inglot store?

So anyways, I ended up buying 3 e/s and they had a deal of buy 3 get 1 free. You could choose your free gift from a box which had a mix of Inglot lipsticks, eye-pencils, nail-polishes, e/s, glitter liner etc, gel liner etc. Except everything had very weird colours/shades. For ex. The gel liner was cotton candy pink and the foundation was chocolate brown in colour. I ended up picking out a concealer which seemed to match my skin tone.

So the price of each pan is INR 300/- which is affordable when compared to MAC. I paid INR 900 for 3 e/s and one concealer. All in all, I was a happy camper!

Next post: Swatches and review of what all I got! Stay tuned, same bat time - same bat channel. :)

NYX Jumbo eye pencils - The good, the bad and the ugly!

Hello my lovely readers!

I decided to do this post because someone asked me once on another makeup blog "If NYX pencils crease so much then why does everyone love them?"

I don't remember what I replied but being a makeup enthusiast and a blogger I want to share my opinion on these babies.

NYX describes their Jumbo eye pencils as a "radiant eyeliner that also doubles as an eyeshadow." which I feel is a fairly apt description.

NYX JEP
The good:

  • Good pigmentation for some of the pencils.
  • Creamy and easy to use.
  • Nice and fat (haha!)
  • Beautiful and good range of colours
  • Thus they make excellent bases for my eye shadows.
  • The best two without a doubt are: Milk and Black Bean. If you have to buy only 2, then get these.
  • The price can be affordable - I won't say inexpensive because "expense" is relative.
  • In India they cost ~425/- and in USA they cost between 3-7$
  • You can get them on discount or offers of buy 3 get one free kind of deals.

The bad:
  • While some of them are very pigmented, others have a patchy application.
  • They crease very quickly.
  • There are some that do not crease as quickly as others. Case in point: Milk is "drier" than the creamy black bean. I don't know if this a one off thing or a consistent feature of Milk.
  • The caps are flimsy and crack really quickly.

The ugly:
  • That's a harsh word and there is no ugly to these pencils. :D

Here are some pics:

See, nice and fat!!
Ok so below are some swatches and a brief description of the ones I have used.

L-R: Black Bean, Milk, Yellow, Baby Blue, Slate, Pots & Pans, Purple Velvet

  • Milk: white, my favorite. Not too creamy and a good all purpose base.
  • Black Bean: black, makes for an excellent dark base for smokey, dramatic looks, extremely smooth application
  • Yellow: Yellow, good yellow base for those hard to work with yellow e/s

Black Bean, Milk, Yellow
  • Baby Blue: Sky blue with subtle shimmer. Beautiful colour but horrible application!
  • Slate: Dark shimmery gray colour. Good dark base for smokey looks as well
  • Pots and Pans: Stunning silver colour but again, just wipes off with one swipe. NO staying power.
  • Purple Velvet: Velvetty rich purple, easy to use and stunning colour.

Baby Blue, Slate, Pots and Pans, Purple Velvet
So there you have it! The good, the bad and the err...everything I know about NYX JEP.

They are easy to use, with good pigmentation and serve as good  bases to build up colour. Their major drawback is tendency to crease but if you use a good eye primer, these pencils work well.

Hope you found this post informative! Thanks & tata!

Egyptian Inspired

Who knows what kind of inspiration strikes me these days. Just when I feel like I have nothing new to do, some sneaky little idea creeps into my head. I have to credit my makeup box - I just stared at it and started doing this look. Then I realized it was my take on awesome Egyptian eyes. :D

I used:
  • Cello tape
  • MAC Blacktrack fluidline
  • Black e/s from NYX palette
  • Gold gel liner (no name)
  • Copper pigment (no name)
  • NYX Black bean Jumbo pencil
  • Maybelline Greatlash mascara
What do you think of the look? Here are some pics.

Tell me what you all think and if there is any look you want me to do, I'd be happy to try!

Thanks!
