NYX Megashine Lipgloss 'Burgundy' - RSL

So NYX lipglosses are supposed to be really amazing, etc etc. I pick this one up six months ago and I really love the colour. Its a beautiful & rich burgundy colour that makes my lips look very seductive (in my mind at least!)

So here are some things to know about this gloss:

  • Very richly pigmented.
  • It smells a little like cherry flavoring.
  • Goes on smoothly and stays longer that most glosses because it is so dark.
  • Not sticky.
  • Problems: the colour bleeds after some time!! That is my only issue with this gloss - if I use it just as a gloss with no prepping of the lips before, the colour can bleed after a while.
The colour is very intense and cannot really be worn all the time. So I was kinda wondering what to do with this gloss and I came up with an idea. I dabbed just a teeny bit on my finger and spread it on my lips as if I were applying a lip balm! It looked great and basically showed up as a lipstain!!  It gave my lips a healthy flushed look which I am loving!! Plus there is no issue of bleeding and getting on your teeth.

So tip of the day:  To make a dark gloss wearable for any time: use it as a lip stain! So without further adieu, I present some pics for you!

On lips!

Used as a lipstain! (Love it this way.)
What do you think?? I'm so pleased with myself for coming up with the lipstain idea! :p Try it for your dark glosses and let me know how it worked out!

Cran-black!

I wanted to do Cranberry & Black combination after seeing it somewhere (can't remember where now) and this is what I came up with. I know the crease and the outer V look brown but that can't be helped. I used one of favorite eye-shadows Trax by MAC after a long time! Looking at these pics gave me a sense of deja-vu - I feel like I am doing the same thing again and again, though this is the first time I used these colours together.. weird?

Products used:

  • NYX Black Bean Jumbo pencil
  • MAC e/s Cranberry, Black Tied, Trax, Beauty Marked, Pink Venus
  • MAC fluidline Blacktrack
  • Maybelline Great Lash mascara
Hope you like! Here are some pics:

Let me know what you think! Any feedback, comments, suggestions will be appreciated!

Yellow look!

I love yellow and after I saw Rashmi's yellow look, I wanted to try it too. Actually I wanted to do just yellow with a retro winged liner but I have recently acquired MAC's "Twinks" e/s so I wanted to use that as well. And the winged liner did not work out so I did a simple but thick line instead. Hope you like!

Products used:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • NYX Yellow jumbo eye pencil
  • Inglot Yellow e/s, Orange e/s
  • MAC e/s Twinks
  • MAC e/s Black Tied
  • MAC penultimate liner
  • Covergirl Lash Blast mascara
Here are some pics!

Yes, I know this pictures of both eyes is creepy. :D

Brown-smoky!

This look was requested by Poohkie. It's a simple brown smoky eye with few products used. The pictures, don't do it justice - browns just looked washed out on me. But I wanted to do the look & explain the technique as well so that it becomes easy and wearable.

Products used:

  • NYX jumbo eye pencil in "Milk" - use as a base for all over lid.
  • Faces brown eye pencil - smudge on upper eyelid, under the crease.
  • MAC e/s in "Twinks" - all over eyelid under the crease; then blend with clean brush above crease.
  • NYX e/s in "Walnut" - as crease colour to blend.
  • Inglot white e/s as highlight, and to blend the brown.
  • Black eye pencil - to line upper and lower waterline
  • Covergirl Lashblast mascara.
Ok, so a few things before you see the pics:

  1. You don't have to use a separate crease colour for this look. Just pack on colour on the main eyelid area and using a clean fluffy brush, blend upwards into and above your crease - thus "smoking" the eye shadow out.
  2. Use a similar coloured base for smoky looks.
  3. Since smokey looks can get heavy, skip eyeliner on upper lid.
  4. Also, use a light colour to highlight tear duct area.
  5. Please forgive the spidery lashes - it's my new mascara that's giving me a tough time.

Sorry about the pics - this was the best I could capture. Hope you like and do leave me questions & comments, suggestions!

Thanks.

Fuschia, Peacock and Gold!

This look was requested by Chennai Ponnu and now I have finally gotten down to doing it. She wanted fuschia, gold and peacock. I don't really have a fuschia colour so I have made do with another colour. Hope you like!!

Products used:

  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in "Milk" - all over eye as base.
  • MAC paint pot in "Delft" - base on upper lid close to eyelashes, under crease.
  • Ben Nye pigment in "Peacock" - lid colour, under crease.
  • MAC pigment in "Forest Green" - outer V, into crease & lower lashline.
  • MAC e/s in "Star Violet" - blended above crease.
  • Skin tone e/s as highlight & to blend the pink.
  • 24K gold gel liner - as base, in crease of the inner half of eye.
  • Gold pigment - over the gold base.
  • Faces brown eye pencil - in water line.
  • MAC penultimate eyeliner in Black.
  • Maybelline "great lash" mascara.
Whoo! Long list of products huh? Yea the look was definitely complicated. I hope you like the pics:

Faces Cosmetics.

Having read some interesting things about Faces Cosmetics, I decided to go check out their line of products. They have some very nice products and I like that they are reasonably priced.

This is just a holler to let you know that Faces is on sale @ Naidu Hall in Chennai! Some stuff is marked at 10% and some at 50% off! The smokey eyes kit that has a ton of products is 50% off (999 down to around 450 bucks.) I think it is a great deal! So please go check it out and if you are not from Chennai, spread the word to your Chennai pals!

Will do a review on what I got later. Thanks!
