Faces "Sparkle Dust" - review, swatches and a look!

Helloooo Everyone!


Sorry for the delay in posts. Work has been crazy busy and I have just had no time. But this post is very exciting for me because I was walking past a Faces kiosk at the mall and I saw this stack of 'Sparkle Dust' pigments that I just had to pick up. The colours are so beautiful and so shimmery. They would be perfect for wedding makeup or a fun night out on the town. I don't have too many shimmery colours like this in my collection and am very excited to play with these.


So here goes the review:

• 8 stackable pigments with a varied range of colours.
• Colours are highly shimmery and extremely gorgeous.
• Colours are very pigmented when swatched.
• They need a primer and a white/black base underneath to really make them pop/
• Can be used wet or dry.
• Priced at 699/- for 8 colours (which I think is a good deal.)

The colours in this stack are not individually labelled but I will try to describe them to you. The entire stack is titled, "Rainbow." There are two white pigments, one with pink reflects and the other is with green reflects in them. There is a beautiful teal, electric blue, baby pink, hot pink, mauve-gray and a deep burgundy-purple colour.

So there it is. I hope you enjoyed the review and the swatches. I really am very happy with these pigments since I find them very fun and exciting to use. 


Oh and one thing I noticed was that all the jars don't have the same quantity of pigment in them. Some have more and some have less - isn't that weird? I'm not complaining because I will never get through an entire jar of pigment in my lifetime but it makes me wonder what kind of quality process they have!

White and lovely orange!

Hi Folks!


This is my impromptu look for today. I normally don't wear this elaborate makeup on a daily basis but today I felt like going a little over my normal makeup. It's a simple and fun look using my favorite Inglot colours. 


I used:

• MAC Painterly Paint Pot
• INGLOT e/s M373, AMC 51, AMC60, DS465
• Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in zero
• Maybelline great lash mascara

Ecotools 6 piece eye brush set review

Hi!


This post is going to review the Ecotools 6 piece eye brush set. It's a travel brush kit which is quite small and can be slipped into any corner of your luggage.


I have already reviewed EcoTools brushes here. I really like their brushes and I am happy to add more to my collection. Now this says 6-piece but there are actually 5 brushes only. The brush roll is considered the 6th piece.


Some features of this kit:

• The brushes come in a brush roll made of cloth, and has an in-built mirror.
• The brushes have shorter handles (as can be seen in pics below.)
• Each brush has it's function stamped on the handle so you know exactly what each brush is for.
• There is a blending, shader, crease, highlight and smudge brush. 

So as you can see, it really is a handy brush kit to have when you are travelling.

Coming to actually using these brushes, they are pretty good.

• Blending brush: is quite densely packed with bristles and reminds me of the MAC 227. It's not a dupe for sure but the size and thickness remind me of the 227. I actually use it for my highlight because it is just too big for my crease or for blending for my eyes.
• Crease brush: This is one is a really fluffy, angled brush and actually would work perfectly for the crease. I again find that it works great for highlight
• Highlight brush: actually looks like a crease brush. It's fluffy and similar to MAC's 224
• Shade brush: is a flat, really tiny shader brush and is awesome for the inner corner of my eyes. It helps with complicated looks where you need to be really carefull with how much e/s you put on.
• Smudge brush is again a tiny pencil brush. I really like it for my under eye, inner corner and ever crease.

So my overall opinion on these brushes is that I like them especially the tiny smudger and shader brush. The blending brush is okay, because I don't really use it for blending. It's just too large. The highlight brush works as an extra blending and crease brush for me. I really like the angled fluffy brush - I have not seen too many of these. It works great for blending out a crease and as a highlight brush.

I would recommend these brushes to those who are starting out their brush collection or those who don't have too many of these. If you are one of those people who already have a large repertoire of brushes, I think you can skip these. They are affordable and good quality also.

Some skin-care products that I have been enjoying.

Hi everyone!


I know I don't talk much about skin care on here and I really want to share this with you. Having been blessed with good skin for all my life, I started having problems with it a few years ago.


It got a little oily and I started having a few breakouts every now and then. And then I moved to another city 6 months ago. Here, the pollution and change in weather caused my skin to go a little crazy. After struggling with it for a while, I have managed to begin getting it back to normal. Some of the products that have helped me along the way are:




1. 

Himalaya Oil Balancing Face Wash Gel: This is one product that has worked wonders for my skin. It contains Citron and Honey. The consistency is gel-like and feels smooth and amazing on my skin not to mention, it really keeps my skin soft and clean plus it's great at oil-control!


I use it twice a day. 




2. Johnsons's baby skincare wipes: Yes I know they are for babies but they work great for us adults too! 

Sometimes, if I am too lazy to wash my face I use these baby wipes. But most importantly, these are great for removing makeup! They cost much less than MAC wipes and work amazing at removing face and eye makeup. Please note, if you use Urban Decay Primer Potion, the eyemakeup is a little difficult to remove but with a little work it comes right off.




3. VLCC Punarnava Astringent: This one burns like **bleep** BUT it has helped my skin ALOT!

I use it on a cotton pad at night before going to sleep, after washing my face. It has really helped my breakouts and in keeping my pores closed but I must warn you that it is very strong and may not be for everyone.




4. Cotton pads: these are really handy for your  face, for applying astringent/toner and for removing eyemakeup.

5. Kumkumam Lepam: 

Sorry friends, this unique little product is available only in one tiny shop in Chennai on Dabba Chetty Street somewhere in Mylapore. But this magic dabbi has an amazing little ointment that will zap a zit overnight! It costs 25 bucks and is a home made recipe for clearing up skin problems. I just dab it on any zits present or coming up at night and it reduces the blemish by at least 30-40% overnight. For bad breakouts, use continuously for 4-5 days and breakouts disappear. If you are in the neighbourhood do check it out!




So this is what has helped me deal with my oily skin and breakouts. My skin is not back to what it was but it's a lot better. Have you used any of these? What's the experience been like? Do let me know!

Delft paint pot!

Hello everyone!


Delft is gorgeous iridescent blue-green paint pot by MAC. I have had this for a few years and I really wanted to do a series of looks with it. Sometimes I find that I buy an amazing make-up product but never get around to using it that much. Delft is one of those products that I loved but never got too many chances to use. 


This is a stand alone colour. By that I mean that you can do a look using this paint pot alone, it's that versatile! So I came up with the idea of doing a series of 5 looks using Delft beginning from a simple look to more complicated ones. But when I started using it, I realized that it smelled funny and it was time to chuck the paint-pot. Sad as I was, I was excited to add it to my Back-to-MAC pile. 


So I could only do 2 looks with it, the first is a simple one showcasing the colour alone. The second is a more dramatic one. Check out the pics!


Oh and I used:

• Delft paint-pot
• NYX e/s Lime Juice, Black Bean jumbo pencil
• Pale champagne coloured highlight from NYX Jazz Nights palette
• MAC e/s Humid, Black tied, Romp
• MAC penultimate eyeliner
• Maybelline Great Lash Mascara.

Another late night look!

This is another late night look for you all! I am trying to use some of my not-so-often used colours. I really want to try and get as much use out of my makeup :D. I tend to lean a lot towards teals, purples, plums and golds. So I am sorry if you see a lot of the same colours/patterns.

Something fun!

Hello, 


This look was inspired by an argument over the phone. Sounds strange but I had an argument on the phone with someone and then got mad and hung up the phone. In my irritation, I wanted to go wash my face and go to sleep because it was late at night and I caught sight of my makeup stash in my open cupboard and I just started pulling stuff out and came up with this. Now in all honesty, it just came out of my imagination but now that I look at it I feel like I have seen this somewhere, retained it in my memory and have now been inspired by it! 


Oh well, the moral of the story - try and do a look when you are irritated and you may come up with something awesome! LOL!

• Inglot e/s - 494 ds (purple), AMC 60(yellow)
• MAC pigment in Golden lemon
• MAC e/s black tied.
• Ben Nye pigment in Turquoise

• Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner in Zero

Rusty-gold

Hey All!!


Whenever I do red-golds-browns in any combination, I never end up posting those pictures because the pictures just NEVER come out right. I am never able to capture the hues and the shades of reds and browns and that look never becomes a post. 


I have finally managed to get decent pics of my look that I did and even yet I do not think they do justice to the actual colours! Oh well, practice makes perfect right?

I'm back with a blue and gold look for you!

Hello!!


Sorry for the lack of posts my friends. I have been devoid of inspiration plus very busy with work. Here is a new blue and gold look for you all!! I have used a blue-gray colour over a black base and it ended up giving me a beautiful dark blue which I loved. 


Here is what I used:

• NYX e/s in Space
• Inglot e/s in 430 P
• Maybelline great lash mascara

So, what do you all think? I really like the blue I have created. And I love it with the gold as well. It's a nice smokey eye - a departure from the traditional black or gray smokey eye eh?

Some storage options

Hi everyone! 


This post is especially dedicated to my Chennai followers who are few but very valuable. I recently found a new shop that sells all kinds of storage items such as baskets, boxes, containers of different shapes and sizes. It's a small store called "SAMA" and it is located on CP Ramaswamy road parallel to where the flyover ends. It's next to the newly opened Apollo clinic on that very same road. 


I checked out the store yesterday and was delighted to find a few things to store and organize my makeup in. I must mention that quite a bit of the stuff in that shop was very reasonable priced. So here is what I picked up.


1. 1 set of plastic storage drawers priced at Rs. 250. 

• The drawers are about 8-10 inches high so they are not very huge. 
• I think they will work great for e/s, eyepencils, lipsticks etc. 
• Each individual drawer is about 1 inch deep and extends about 6 inches. 
• The width is around 4 inches (I hope this gives you a good idea of dimensions.)
• There are a total of 4 drawers.

2. 1 set of storage trays priced at Rs. 150.

• These come as a set of 3. 
• The trays are around 2 inches deep, 2 inches wide and 10 inches long. 
• You can use them for blushes, compacts, lotions etc.
